Website and free tools
These terms apply to tallyfern.com and the free tools on it, such as the GST/HST threshold checker. Templates bought on Etsy are covered by Etsy’s terms and by the licence and notes inside each file. Our free Rates server has its own terms (below).

General information, not advice. Everything on this site, including the free tools, is general information. It is not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and it doesn’t replace the law or official CRA guidance. Check anything important on canada.ca or with a qualified professional. Tallyfern is not affiliated with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Accuracy. We take figures from official sources and show the date we checked them, and our tools are tested before release. Rules change and mistakes can happen, so we can’t guarantee the site is complete, current or error-free. Using it outside its intended purpose is at your own risk.
Acceptable use. Please don’t misuse the site: no attempts to break, overload or get unauthorized access to it, and no copying our content or tools to republish or sell them. Short quotes with a link back are fine.
Our content. The site’s text, design, logo and tools belong to Tallyfern.
Links. We link to other sites, such as canada.ca and Etsy. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for them.
Liability. The site and free tools are provided “as is” and free of charge. To the extent the law allows, Tallyfern is not liable for any loss from using or relying on them. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be excluded.
Privacy. See our Privacy Policy at tallyfern.com/privacy/.
Changes. We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
Law. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Rates server terms of use

These terms apply to Tallyfern Rates, the remote MCP server at mcp.tallyfern.com. By connecting to or calling it, directly or through an AI assistant, you agree to them.
Free and “as is.” Rates is free and provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no promises about uptime, speed or availability, and it may be slow, unavailable or return errors at any time.
Information only. Answers are general information taken from official Canada.ca and CRA pages, with the source link and an “as of” date. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice. Rates and rules change, and an AI assistant can misread or misquote an answer, so check any figure against the official source it cites, or with a qualified professional, before you rely on it. Tallyfern is not affiliated with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Fair use. Please use Rates at a reasonable volume. Don’t try to overload it, get around any limits, probe it for weaknesses, or resell access to it. We may add rate limits, change them, or block traffic that looks abusive, at any time and without notice.
Changes and discontinuation. We may change, pause or discontinue Rates, or any tool in it, at any time. We’ll try to post notice on tallyfern.com when we can, but we don’t promise to.
No liability. To the extent the law allows, Tallyfern is not liable for any loss, including taxes, penalties or interest, from using or relying on Rates or from it being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be excluded.
